Poker Tournament Prize Pool Structure
In the chart below is the prize pool breakdown for poker tournaments on WSOP.com.
Tournaments generally pay out to roughly the top 10% of a tournament’s participants. You can see in the matrix below what percentage of the prize pool each finishing position will earn, specific to the number of players who were entered the tournament.
As you can see, if you came in 4th in a tournament that had 350 players, your share of the prize pool would be 7.5%. If you came in first in a tournament with 660 players, you’d win 23% of the total prize pool.
